I waited when the Miyoo Flip V.1 was announced mainly due to I've learned from my numerous retro handheld purchases to wait, just in case revisions could happen. It's definitely happened to me before, so, I'm a bit more patient these days.
The revisions did take place and so I ordered the Miyoo Flip V.2 addition.
Packaging was quite safely done, and it was a nice presentation building that nostalgic feeling as I picked up my new handheld. The handheld feels quite nice, even before opening to reveal the screen & controls it has a premium feel to the shell. The hinges are quite loud when moving to the different positions, but also seemed very sturdy, so no worries here.
I really love the mini HDMI port and it works flawlessly. The D Pad has a very nice feel to it, not too clicky and not too soft. The shoulder buttons are very nice as well. Exceptionally quite!
The analog sticks have a very little cardinal snapping and are fantastic to use in racing games, like Ridge Racer, for example.
As always the operating system is intuitive and the game selection has been chosen well.
The sound is good, but not great, and the battery life is right where it should be, depending on the system being emulated a good 6-8 hours of gaming.
My only wish with the version 2 of the Miyoo Flip, and the only reason I've scored this console an 8/10 is the screen resolution. I would have given this device a 10/10 if it had a 720p resolution screen. Especially when 95% of system being developed today have moved past the 480p option.
Still, is it worth the money and is it fun to use? The answer to those two questions is an easily given, yes.
So, if you're looking for an outstanding stocking stuffer, at a great price point for this holiday season, look no further
than the Miyoo Flip V.2. Enjoy!
Expensive SD Card. With games that require keyboards to play.
It doesn't have some of the staple games I was expecting and I still needed to set some of the settings. Ideally if I am purchasing this for that exact handheld, I would assume every game and setting is set correctly for it. But no shortcuts really worked and some of the systems I have to set settings still? I don't know... The entire point for ME was to buy this and not have to set or change anything and its just ready to go? I just think every major system the top 100 games should for sure be there but some were missing that I would have easily expected?
Also, some of the names and such weren't exact nor were all the artwork there. The entire point I figure to buy this is so I don't have to set this up? I am a really busy guy and when I do got down time I just wanted to turn on the handheld and start playing - not have to start being tech support for my own device and then go from there?
It's a great little device however, it that's some effort in getting it set up. Out of the box the WiFi and Bluetooth didn't work. After trying different custom firmware and still not getting any results, I contacted customer service. For a few days I emailed customer service back and forth. First they wanted a video of the flip not connecting to Bluetooth, I sent them one. Then they wanted me to upgrade the bios, which is a easy process. I tried that and Bluetooth still didn't work. I emailed customer service telling them the problem. It's been three days and I haven't heard from them at all. I like the device and what games I played on it I really enjoyed. However, I wanted something that worked 100% out of the box and I didn't get that. The Wifi however magically started working without me doing anything.
The screen on my miyoo flip stopped working a few days after receipt.

Love it.
My eyes are too old to be playing on a 2.4 inch display but I still love it.
Spent hours tinkering with it to get it just right with a much smaller set of my own games as the custom ROM set that came with it was huge. Put TechDweeb's theme on the Emulation Station, Tried ALL the custom firmwares. Got my PC to scrape the artwork and videos for all > 8K games that were on the included SD card and a bunch of my own music files. It's been an amazing journey. Also got to join Dusty Game Society game of the month and played Brave Fencer Musashi from the PS1 on my 2.4 inch screen. Ridiculous but fun. Ridiculously fun.
Loving the tinkering and playing. Uber pocket friendly. And it's purple.
TBH if you asked me know whether I opted for the shipping Protection I probably would have had to guess at an answer. Looks like I did. Didn't need it this time but whatever the price was it was certainly worth the piece of mind. Imagine how sad poor Guy would be if my new best little, beautiful purple gadget got lost on it's way to me and we never got the chance to form the wonderful bond that we have. I really like my GKD Pixel II with the 64 GB card full of eight thousand and something games. Even though I replaced the SD card with one of my own almost immediately.
Miyoo Mini Plus Retro Handheld Game Console
If you don’t know, get one to know. My first retro game emulator that did not let me down. Everything I hoped and wanted. I suggest getting the OS card and itll make a fantastic piece of gaming hardware right out the box. The Micro SD card included in my order was a top notch Sandisk Ultra card. Plus the Litnxt Case is sturdy as heck and doing a great job keeping my new investment safe. Fantastic service all around. Ps TY GINA
I hope it comes soon, it's been 20 days since I ordered and not received anything yet.
