I left a 3 star review previously because I thought the ROMs were corrupt. Disregard that review. It turns out I just didn't know that you need to change the core/emulator for some older games. This is a brilliant affordable gift for anyone you know that is into gaming, gaming culture, DIY, or gadgets in general.
Highly recommend. However, there is a caveat - the stock firmware is not great and had all kinds of random glitchy issues not related to the SD card. I put Knulli OS on it using the instructions from their site and it works much better with a slick UI.
As someone who doesn’t do a lot of nitty gritty tech work anymore it was a bit difficult to get everything running WELL - took hours and hours to get it working just right. If you want easy mode or if buying for a kid I would probably buy the litnxt miyoominiplus with onion os and Roms preloaded.
I love this handheld! Has to be my most favorite one. Thinking about changing the OS, but will on a separate SD card. Easily transferred my Mario ROMS to it and they play terrific. I love the clamshell so I can close it anytime then resume! Been plaing Zelda Minish Cap on this and love it!
5 stars if it stays durable in the future
This is a great console for retro gaming (PSP and N64 can struggle a bit) I bought it for Sega Genesis GBA NES and SNES mainly so this it perfect for me. Love the classic GBA SP design. You will need to add your own games though (there's plenty of tutorials on youtube and it's quite easy) cause the games that comes with the additionnal SD Card are a bit of a mess (lots of duplicate and japanese only and main Nintendo games like Mario and Zelda aren't included) that being said you still get a TONS of games to play from the get go. Definitely recommend this if you want to play from the atari to PS1/Dreamcast. If you want to play Gamecube, PS2, 3DS I would recommend a more powerful console though.

Great way of building a retro games library, someone took the time to organize a great 8, 16 and some 32 bit console game collection.
A bit too glossy compared to the sample photo. The case is sturdy and fits perfectly
Expensive SD Card. With games that require keyboards to play.
