What are the main advantages of the Anbernic RG476H?

Anbernic RG476H, released in September 2025, is a compact Android-based handheld console, and also Anbernic’s first handheld with a full-glass screen. Honestly, its competitiveness depends on your gaming preferences and expectations.

What’s the selling point of the RG476H?

From the evolution of retro handhelds to now, Litnxt has witnessed many legendary devices: Miyoo Mini Plus, TrimUI Brick, RG35XX SP, Odin2, Retroid Pocket 5, and so on. So what about the RG476H? Let’s take a look at its specs:

Display: 4.7-inch LTPS touchscreen, 4:3 aspect ratio, 1280×960 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, up to 500 nits brightness.
Clearly, this is the RG476H’s biggest highlight: a high-resolution 4:3 screen (or you could say it’s a lower end version of the RG477M, since they share the same screen).

Since it’s essentially a “lite” version, the price will likely fall in the $160-180 range(USD). Apart from the display, the rest of the specs are more or less similar to the RG Slide and other devices:
Processor: Unisoc T820 SoC, with Mali-G57 quad-core GPU, 8GB RAM, and 128GB storage (expandable via microSD).
Battery: 5,000mAh, providing around 6 hours of gameplay.
Controls: Hall-effect joysticks (notably positioned at the bottom, very suitable for retro gaming).
Software: Runs on Android 13.
Performance: Judging from past T820-based devices, the RG476H is capable of emulating PS2, GameCube, Wii, 3DS, PSP, and even modern Android games like Genshin Impact. However, performance will vary depending on the game. While it runs many retro and mid-range Android games smoothly, more demanding titles like PS3 or Switch emulation—may be limited.

So the Pros are:
1) Impressive 4:3 high-resolution display, perfect for retro gaming.
2) Modern Android OS with wide gaming support.
3) Precise controls with Hall-effect joysticks.
4) Compact and portable design.

Cons:
1) Limited performance for high-end emulators and demanding Android games.
2) Lack of back support, extended play sessions may cause hand fatigue (ergonomic issue).

Overall, for those looking for a portable retro handheld that can also handle casual Android gaming, the Anbernic RG476H is a solid option. Its performance is sufficient for a wide range of games, but if you’re aiming for the latest high-end Android titles or demanding emulation, you may want to consider something more powerful, like the RG477M or Odin3.

Of course, before buying, make sure your expectations are clear, after all, with retro handhelds, it’s really about enjoying retro games, isn’t it?
